General Secretary Xi Jinping, in his important directive on the construction of ideological and political courses in schools, emphasized: “We must always uphold the guiding role of Marxism, use the world-renowned achievements of socialism with Chinese characteristics as content support, and take fine traditional Chinese culture, revolutionary culture, and advanced socialist culture as the foundational strength, to explain principles deeply, thoroughly, and vividly, to uphold fundamental principles and break new ground in promoting the connotative development of ideological and political course construction, and to continuously enhance the targetedness and appeal of ideological and political courses.” Ideological and political courses must both explain principles and present facts, establishing principles on the basis of facts, using facts to support principles, and using principles to interpret facts. Since reform and opening up, and especially since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, socialism with Chinese characteristics has achieved world-renowned accomplishments, providing content support for teaching ideological and political courses well. Fully utilizing these world-renowned achievements to teach ideological and political courses well is an inherent requirement for fulfilling the role of ideological and political courses in fostering virtue and nurturing people.

Regarding these achievements, General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the ceremony marking the centenary of the CPC, the “Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century” adopted at the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC, and the report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC have all provided systematic summaries. Using these achievements as content support helps enhance the explanatory power, appeal, and affinity of ideological and political courses, improving their effectiveness in forging souls and educating people.

For instance, in 2023, China’s gross higher education enrollment rate reached 60.2%. Another example is the completion of the poverty alleviation task, which historically resolved the problem of absolute poverty that had plagued the Chinese nation for thousands of years, achieving the poverty reduction goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule, and leading the global poverty reduction cause. This achievement reflects both China’s institutional advantage in concentrating resources to accomplish major tasks and the original aspiration and founding mission, governance capability, and leadership level of the CPC. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, socialism with Chinese characteristics has achieved world-renowned accomplishments: China has realized a historic leap from relatively backward productive forces to becoming the world's second-largest economy; it has achieved a historic leap in people's living standards from inadequate food and clothing to moderate prosperity in general, and then to moderate prosperity in all respects; the Chinese nation has ushered in a great leap from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong; the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics has grown ever broader, the superiority of socialism has been greatly demonstrated, and Chinese-path modernization has provided a new choice for humanity to realize modernization.
