Be Adept at Observing and Handling Problems from a Political Perspective

Taking a clear political stand is not only a distinctive feature of a Marxist political party but also a political advantage that our Party has consistently maintained. So-called political consciousness refers to a high degree of self-awareness in thinking about issues and planning measures from the perspective of what concerns the future and destiny of the Party and the state, as well as their fundamental interests. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, General Secretary Xi Jinping has emphasized political consciousness on multiple occasions. Deeply studying and comprehending these important discourses holds significant guiding importance for the vast number of Party members and cadres in strengthening their ideals and convictions, grasping the direction and overall situation, and daring to take on responsibilities and act.

旗帜鲜明讲政治，既是马克思主义政党的鲜明特征，也是我们党一以贯之的政治优势。所谓政治自觉，是指要从事关党和国家前途命运、根本利益的高度思考问题、谋划举措的高度自觉。党的十八大以来，习近平总书记在多个场合强调政治自觉。深入学习领会这些重要论述，对于广大党员干部坚定理想信念、把握方向大势、勇于担当作为具有重要指导意义。

On December 18, 2018, at the celebration of the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that on the major principled issue of upholding the Party’s leadership, which determines the future and destiny of the Party and the state, the entire Party and the whole country must maintain a high degree of ideological consciousness, political consciousness, and action consciousness, without the slightest wavering. The leadership of the Communist Party of China is the most essential feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the greatest strength of the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The vast number of Party members and cadres must continuously enhance their political consciousness of always upholding the Party’s leadership from the political height of realizing the Party’s historical mission in the New Era. 2018年12月18日，习近平总书记在庆祝改革开放40周年大会上强调，在坚持党的领导这个决定党和国家前途命运的重大原则问题上，全党全国必须保持高度的思想自觉、政治自觉、行动自觉，丝毫不能动摇。中国共产党领导是中国特色社会主义最本质的特征，是中国特色社会主义制度的最大优势。广大党员干部要从实现新时代党的历史使命的政治高度不断增强始终坚持党的领导的政治自觉。以坚持党的领导的政治自觉为牵引，把政治要求、政治标准贯穿党的政治建设、思想建设、组织建设、作风建设、纪律建设、制度建设以及反腐败斗争的始终，以政治上的加强推动全面从严治党向纵深发展，不断完善党的领导制度体系，改进党的领导方式，提高党科学执政、民主执政、依法执政水平，全面增强党的执政本领，让我们党始终成为时代先锋、民族脊梁。

On July 24, 2019, at the ninth meeting of the Central Committee for Deepening Overall Reform, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that comprehensively deepening reform is an important manifestation of our Party’s original aspiration and founding mission. The deeper the reform goes, the more we must take on responsibilities and act, advance steadily yet swiftly, and forge ahead courageously, without any slackening or resting on our laurels. We must enhance the ideological consciousness, political consciousness, and action consciousness of reform. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, our Party has profoundly grasped the domestic and international development trends, eloquently expounded on major theoretical and practical issues such as why and how to comprehensively deepen reform in the process of building socialism with Chinese characteristics, and achieved a transformation from local exploration and breakthrough to systematic integration and comprehensive deepening, opening up a new situation for comprehensively deepening reform. The comprehensive deepening of reform in the New Era stands at a new historical starting point and a new theoretical judgment. New foundations bring new requirements, and new starting points imply new challenges. Comprehensively deepening reform must always adhere to the overall leadership of the Party, remain people-centered, uphold fundamental principles and break new ground, take institutional construction as the main line, adhere to law-based governance in all respects, and adhere to a systematic approach.
