Empowering the Construction of Ideological and Political Courses through Culture

“A super-happy ideological and political course” “Such an ideological and political course is so interesting”…… Recently, the action plan “‘Beijing’ Splendor, Youth Blossom” — the themed “Grand Ideological and Political Course” for the inaugural education of capital university students titled “A Strong Country and Rejuvenation Have Me” was held at Renmin University of China, hosted by the Beijing Municipal Party Committee Propaganda Department and the Municipal Education Work Committee, marking the official launch of the touring performance of this activity. On that day, nearly 1,000 teacher and student representatives watched on-site, and over 200,000 2024-level university students watched via online livestreaming. This “Grand Ideological and Political Course,” staged on a theatrical platform, was co-performed by over 300 teachers and students from more than 30 primary, secondary, and tertiary schools. Through literary and artistic expressions such as recitation, dance, song, situational drama, and traditional opera, it comprehensively showcased the uplifting spirit of capital students in strengthening their ideals and convictions and bravely undertaking the mission of the times.

“超幸福的思政课”“这样的思政课太有意思了”……日前，由北京市委宣传部、市委教育工委主办的“‘京’彩文化 青春绽放”行动计划——“强国复兴有我”首都高校新生教育主题“大思政课”在中国人民大学举行，标志着该项活动的巡演正式启动。当天，近1000名师生代表现场观看，20余万名2024级高校学生通过线上直播观看。这堂搬上舞台的“大思政课”由30余所大中小学的300余名师生共同演绎，通过朗诵、舞蹈、歌曲、情景剧、戏曲等文艺表达方式，全面展现首都学子坚定理想信念、勇担时代使命的昂扬风貌。

Culture thrives when the nation thrives; culture is strong when the nation is strong. Chinese civilization is the only great civilization in the world that has continued unbroken and developed in the form of a state to this day, providing ample confidence for us to cultivate a strong cultural confidence. In May this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping made an important directive on the construction of ideological and political courses in schools, emphasizing that “we must always adhere to the guiding role of Marxism, take the remarkable achievements of socialism with Chinese characteristics as the content support, and take fine traditional Chinese culture, revolutionary culture, and advanced socialist culture as the foundation of strength, to explain principles deeply, thoroughly, and vividly, uphold fundamental principles and break new ground to promote the connotative development of ideological and political course construction, and continuously improve the targetedness and appeal of ideological and political courses,” clarifying the clear orientation and practical path for empowering ideological and political course construction through culture. Forging the leading power of ideological and political courses with Xi Jinping Thought on Culture is an inevitable requirement for synchronously advancing the construction of ideological and political courses with the arming of the Party’s innovative theories, an important pathway for promoting the connotative development of ideological and political course construction, and also injects inexhaustible momentum into better implementing the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and exerting the functions of casting souls and educating people, enlightening wisdom and nourishing hearts.

文化兴国运兴，文化强民族强。中华文明是世界上唯一绵延不断且以国家形态发展至今的伟大文明，为我们培育强大文化自信提供了充足的底气。今年5月，习近平总书记对学校思政课建设作出重要指示强调，“要始终坚持马克思主义指导地位，以中国特色社会主义取得的举世瞩目成就为内容支撑，以中华优秀传统文化、革命文化和社会主义先进文化为力量根基，把道理讲深讲透讲活，守正创新推动思政课建设内涵式发展，不断提高思政课的针对性和吸引力”，明确了文化赋能思政课建设的鲜明导向和实践路径。以习近平文化思想锻造思政课引领力，是落实思政课建设与党的创新理论武装同步推进的必然要求，是推动思政课建设内涵式发展的重要途径，也为思政课更好落实立德树人根本任务，发挥铸魂育人、启智润心功能注入了不竭动能。

Adhere to the combination of political leadership and knowledge instruction, thoroughly explain the positions, viewpoints, and methods of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, and cultivate new generations of the times with firm political stances. Xi Jinping Thought on Culture stands at the strategic height of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the sustainable development of Chinese civilization, connecting history, reality, and the future, and integrating China and the world. As an organic component of China’s educational cause, the “Grand Ideological and Political Course” should base itself on Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, focus on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, strengthen the educational and political attributes of ideological and political courses, and boost the uplifting, enterprising, and sharp spirit of young students. Therefore, ideological and political courses should be courses with a grand pattern and broad vision, and should help guide young people to understand China and the world with an open attitude and global perspective. To create high-quality ideological and political courses, strengthen the content construction of the educational front, take advanced socialist culture, revolutionary culture, and fine traditional Chinese culture as the foundation, and orderly integrate them into ideological and political education by educational stage. Centering on answering the “Questions of China,” “Questions of the World,” “Questions of the People,” and “Questions of the Times,” lead young students to better understand and apply the knowledge they have learned, enhance their understanding of history and patriotism, and their love for the Party, and increase their sense of historical responsibility and mission. For example, the “Leading Art Masters Read Classic Grand Ideological and Political Course” held its first scene-immersive grand ideological and political course at the Changxindian February Seventh Memorial Hall, turning scripts into textbooks, recreating the first climax of the Chinese workers’ movement led by the Communist Party of China. Through the form of “teachers and students co-performing a play,” it guides students to perceive red stories and inherit red genes in an immersive experience.

坚持政治引领与知识讲授相结合，讲深习近平文化思想的立场、观点、方法，培养政治立场坚定的时代新人。习近平文化思想站在中华民族伟大复兴和中华文明永续发展的战略高度，贯通历史、现实和未来，融通中国与世界。“大思政课”作为我国教育事业的有机组成部分，要立足习近平文化思想聚焦立德树人根本任务，强化思政课的育人属性与政治属性，提振青年学生昂扬向上、锐意进取的精气神。因此，思政课应当是有大格局、大视野的课，应当有助于引导青年以开放姿态和全球视野认识中国与世界。要打造精品思政课，强化育人阵地内容建设，以社会主义先进文化、革命文化和中华优秀传统文化为根基，分学段有序融入思想政治教育。围绕答好“中国之问”“世界之问”“人民之问”“时代之问”，引领青年学生更好地理解和运用所学知识，增进知史爱国知党爱党之情，增强历史责任感使命感。如“艺术名家领读经典大思政课”在长辛店二七纪念馆举办首堂场景沉浸式思政大课，将剧本变成课本，再现中国共产党领导中国工人运动的第一个高潮，通过师生“共演一出戏”的形式，引导学生在沉浸式体验中感悟红色故事、传承红色基因。

Adhere to the unity of value guidance and cultural inheritance, and cultivate new generations of the times who can better shoulder the new cultural mission. Xi Jinping Thought on Culture emphasizes the need to comprehensively and deeply understand the history of Chinese civilization, profoundly grasp the outstanding characteristics of Chinese civilization, and deeply recognize the laws of Chinese civilization’s development. It is a theoretical summary of the Party’s practical experience in leading cultural construction in the New Era. Ideological and political courses have distinct cultural attributes. On the basis of clearly explaining Marxist cultural construction theory, the Party’s innovative theories, and the inherent compatibility between Marxism and fine traditional Chinese culture, the teaching “radius” of ideological and political courses should be continuously extended, promoting the “walking ideological and political course” to go deeper and more solidly, drawing nourishment from the profound fine traditional Chinese culture, so that students can gain spiritual strength to enlighten life and cultivate wisdom.

坚持价值引领与文化传承相统一，培养更好担负起新的文化使命的时代新人。习近平文化思想强调要全面深入了解中华文明的历史，深刻把握中华文明的突出特性，深刻认识中华文明发展规律，是对新时代党领导文化建设实践经验的理论总结。思政课具有鲜明的文化属性。在讲清楚马克思主义文化建设理论、党的创新理论，讲清楚马克思主义与中华优秀传统文化内在契合的基础上，应当不断延展思政课堂的教学“半径”，推动“行走的思政课”走得更深更实，从深厚的中华优秀传统文化中汲取营养，使学生获得启迪人生、涵养智慧的精神力量。

Adhere to the combination of innovative teaching methods and practical experience, vividly explain the profound connotations and contemporary value of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, enhance the vitality of ideological and political courses, and increase their tension and depth. General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized at the Symposium on Cultural Inheritance and Development that Chinese civilization has outstanding innovativeness, which fundamentally determines the enterprising spirit of the Chinese nation of upholding fundamental principles without being conservative, respecting antiquity without restoring the past, and determines the fearless character of the Chinese nation in not fearing new challenges and being brave in accepting new things. Currently, advanced digital technologies such as generative artificial intelligence are developing rapidly, and the internet contains vast high-quality resources, all of which bring new brilliance to ideological and political courses. The vast majority of ideological and political course teachers should base themselves on the profound connotations, spiritual essence, and value pursuits of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, adopt more diversified, interactive, and information-based teaching methods, and explain ideological and political courses deeply, thoroughly, and vividly. Innovate scene reconstruction, use emerging technologies such as virtual simulation and holographic imaging to create more realistic and vivid teaching scenes, allowing students to immerse themselves in situations such as historical events and social phenomena, feel the remarkable achievements of national construction and development, and strive to become new generations of the times who reassure the Party, love the country and contribute, and shoulder the heavy responsibility of national rejuvenation.

坚持创新教学方法与实践体悟相结合，讲活习近平文化思想的深刻内涵和时代价值，增强思政课的活力，提升思政课的张力和深度。习近平总书记在文化传承发展座谈会上强调，中华文明具有突出的创新性，从根本上决定了中华民族守正不守旧、尊古不复古的进取精神，决定了中华民族不惧新挑战、勇于接受新事物的无畏品格。当前，生成式人工智能等先进数字技术快速发展，互联网上蕴藏着海量的优质资源，这些都为思政课带来新精彩。广大思政课教师要立足习近平文化思想的深刻内涵、精神实质、价值追求，采用更多元化、互动性、信息化的教学方式，把思政课讲深讲透讲活。创新场景再造，利用虚拟仿真、全息影像等新兴技术，创设出更加逼真、生动的教学场景，让学生可以身临其境地参与到历史事件、社会现象等情境中，感受国家建设与发展的斐然成就，努力成为让党放心、爱国奉献、担当民族复兴重任的时代新人。
