Forge the Foundation of Faith, Belief, and Confidence; Strengthen the Leading Power of Ideological and Political Education

A strong leading power of ideological and political education is an inherent requirement for building a strong educational country. Strengthening the leading power of ideological and political education is an inevitable requirement for upholding the Party’s leadership over the building of a strong educational country with socialism with Chinese characteristics, unifying thought, and rallying the people. The Education Weekly of Guangming Daily recently conducted an in-depth discussion on this topic, prompting the authors to further reflect. At present, we must closely focus on the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing people [1]1 “Fostering virtue and nurturing people” (立德树人) is a fundamental task of education in China, emphasizing the cultivation of moral character and talent., forge the foundation of faith, belief, and confidence, and cultivate useful talents who support the Party’s leadership and are determined to strive for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

强大的思政引领力是教育强国建设的应有之义。增强思政引领力，是坚持党对中国特色社会主义教育强国建设的领导，统一思想、凝聚人心的必然要求。光明日报《教育周刊》近日围绕这一话题进行了深入探讨，引发笔者进一步思考。当前，要紧紧围绕立德树人根本任务，铸牢信仰信念信心根基，培养拥护党的领导、立志为中国特色社会主义事业努力奋斗的有用人才。

坚定马克思主义信仰，铸思政引领力之魂

Faith originates from the longing deep within the soul. Young students must firm their Marxist faith, deeply understand how history and the people chose Marxism, deepen their understanding of Marxism’s historical inevitability and scientific truth, and enhance their political, ideological, and emotional identification with Marxism. This is the key to ensuring that the cause of building a strong country and rejuvenating the nation has successors.

信仰源于心灵深处的渴望。青少年学生要坚定马克思主义信仰，深刻认识历史和人民怎样选择了马克思主义，深化对马克思主义历史必然性和科学真理性的认识，增强对马克思主义的政治认同、思想认同、情感认同，这是强国建设、民族复兴后继有人的关键所在。

Adhere to faith in the practice of building a strong educational country. The Marxist faith is the political soul and spiritual pillar of Chinese Communists. It is not only a theoretical faith but also a practical guide, leading us to understand and transform the world. Carrying out education in Marxist theory in the practice of building a strong educational country, using Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to cast the soul and nurture people, is a key link in building a strong educational country. We must actively promote the reform of the educational system and mechanisms, make good use of the main channel of ideological and political theory courses, leverage the educational function of red resources [2]2 “Red resources” refers to historical sites, materials, and cultural legacies associated with the revolutionary history of the Communist Party of China, used for patriotic and ideological education., and expand the main arenas of ideological and political education. Adhere to and apply a systematic approach, deeply advance the integrated construction of ideological and political education in large, medium, and primary schools [3]3 “Large, medium, and primary schools” refers to the three levels of China’s formal education system: universities (large), secondary schools (medium), and primary schools., improve the new pattern of the “grand ideological and political courses” [4]4 “Grand ideological and political courses” (大思政课) is a concept promoting the integration of ideological and political education across all subjects and extracurricular activities, not limited to formal courses., and fundamentally lay a solid ideological foundation for the growth and success of young students. Marxism is a practical theory that guides our actions to transform the world. We must guide young students to always observe and analyze the world from the Marxist standpoint, viewpoint, and method, consciously use Marxism adapted to the Chinese context and the needs of the times to discover new problems, solve new problems, and use it to guide new practice, applying what they have learned and working hard, becoming pillars of talent who can be of great use and bear heavy responsibilities in building a strong educational country. Marxism is the theory of the people; the source of its vitality lies in the people. We must adhere to the people-centered principle, firm the Marxist people’s standpoint, grasp the value orientation of building a strong educational country, and use the power of education to enrich the foundation of the people’s happiness. We must continuously meet the people’s expectations for better education, maintain the value pursuit of running education that satisfies the people and the fundamental direction of promoting educational equity, so that all the people have a greater sense of gain in the co-construction and shared development of education.

在教育强国建设中恪守信仰。马克思主义信仰是中国共产党人的政治灵魂和精神支柱，它不仅是一种理论信仰，更是实践指南，引领我们认识世界和改造世界。在教育强国建设实践中‌开展马克思主义理论教育，用习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想铸魂育人，是教育强国建设的关键一环。我们要积极推进教育体制机制改革，用好思政课教学主渠道，发挥红色资源育人功能，拓宽思政育人主场域。坚持和运用系统观念，深入推进大中小学思政教育一体化建设，完善“大思政课”新格局，从根本上打牢青少年学生成长成才的思想基础。马克思主义是实践的理论，指引着我们改造世界的行动。我们要引导青少年学生始终以马克思主义的立场、观点和方法来观察世界、分析世界，自觉用中国化时代化的马克思主义发现新问题，解决新问题，并用以指导新的实践，学以致用、实干苦干，成为教育强国建设中可堪大用、能担重任的栋梁之材。马克思主义是人民的理论，活力的源泉在人民。必须坚持人民至上，坚定马克思主义人民立场，把握好教育强国建设的价值取向，以教育之力厚植人民幸福之本。要不断满足人民对更好教育的期待，保持办人民满意教育的价值追求和促进教育公平的根本方向，使全体人民在教育的共建共享发展中有更多获得感。

树牢中国特色社会主义信念，立思政引领力之基

Firm belief originates from unremitting exploration. Belief built on great practice is indestructible. Socialism with Chinese characteristics is the theme of all the Party’s practical exploration and theoretical development since reform and opening up. We must always hold high this banner and always adhere to this path of necessity.

坚定的信念源于不懈的探索。筑基于伟大实践的信念坚不可摧。中国特色社会主义是改革开放以来党的全部实践探索和理论发展的主题，必须始终高举这一旗帜，必须始终坚持这一必由之路。

Consolidate belief in the practice of building a strong educational country. The belief in socialism with Chinese characteristics is a firm conviction in the correctness of socialist theory, the justice of the socialist movement, and the superiority of the socialist system. It requires us to both adhere to the lofty ideal of communism and take root in the great practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We must guide young students, through systematic theoretical study, to establish and uphold a correct view of history, view of nationality, view of the nation, and view of culture, enhance their patriotic awareness, cultivate patriotic feelings, foster national pride and self-confidence, and closely link their personal future and destiny with the development of the country. Moral education is the foundation of education. We must treat education in fine traditional Chinese culture as a foundational project for consolidating the foundation and casting the soul, running it through the entire process of talent cultivation, correctly handle the relationship between knowledge learning and comprehensive development, comprehensively improve the quality of education and teaching, and comprehensively improve the quality of independent talent cultivation, providing talent and intellectual support for building a strong educational country. Theoretical arming is the foundation. We must guide students to establish a correct worldview, outlook on life, and value system, continuously strengthen political awareness, responsibility awareness, position awareness, and bottom-line awareness, fully utilize the achievements of the great changes in the New Era, solidly expand the space and positions of practical education and online education, continuously strengthen the theoretical arming of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and consolidate the foundation of belief in socialism with Chinese characteristics.

在教育强国建设中夯实信念。中国特色社会主义信念是对社会主义理论正确性、社会主义运动正义性和社会主义制度优越性的坚信，要求我们既要坚守共产主义远大理想，也要扎根于中国特色社会主义伟大实践。我们要引导青少年学生通过系统的理论学习，树立和坚持正确的历史观、民族观、国家观、文化观，增强爱国意识，厚植爱国情怀，培塑民族自豪感和自信心，把个人的前途命运与国家发展紧密相连。德育为教育之本。我们要将中华优秀传统文化教育作为固本铸魂的基础工程贯穿人才培养全过程，正确处理好知识学习和全面发展的关系，全面提升教育教学质量，全面提高人才自主培养质量，为教育强国建设提供人才和智力支撑。理论武装是基础。我们要引导学生树立正确的世界观、人生观、价值观，不断强化政治意识、责任意识、阵地意识和底线意识，充分运用新时代伟大变革取得的成就，扎实拓展实践育人和网络育人的空间阵地，持续强化中国特色社会主义理论武装，筑牢中国特色社会主义信念的根基。

Confidence originates from profound history and realistic achievements. At present, we are forging ahead on the road to building a strong educational country. We have built the world’s largest and high-quality education system. The results of students’ comprehensive development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education are more significant, the people’s sense of gain in education is more substantial, education’s support for economic and social development is more powerful, and China’s international influence in education is more prominent.

信心源自厚重历史和现实成就。当前，我们正奋进在教育强国的大路上，建成了世界最大规模且有质量的教育体系，学生德智体美劳全面发展成效更加显著、人民群众教育获得感更加充实、教育支撑经济社会发展更加有力、中国教育国际影响力更加彰显。

Maintain confidence in the practice of building a strong educational country. Confidence in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the realistic expression of the original aspiration and founding mission of the Communist Party of China. We must anchor the goal of building a strong educational country, not fearing wind and waves ahead, not avoiding contradictions, not shrinking from challenges, and gathering a powerful spiritual force to overcome difficulties. Today, under the leadership of the Party and through the united struggle of people of all ethnic groups across the country, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation shows bright prospects. We must promote the integrated development of education, scientific and technological innovation, and talent cultivation with an unprecedented sense of historical urgency, mission, and responsibility, and shoulder the era’s task of empowering Chinese-path modernization. We must cultivate a large number of high-quality talents with both moral integrity and professional competence. Anchor national strategic needs to deepen reforms in talent evaluation models and talent cultivation models, coordinate and advance the integrated reform of the education, science and technology, and talent systems and mechanisms, strengthen the independent cultivation of top-notch talents, love, cultivate, attract, and use talents, gather talents from all fields into the cause of the Party and the people, firm our confidence, run education rooted in China’s soil, and answer the fundamental questions of building a strong educational country based on China’s actual conditions.

在教育强国建设中保持信心。中华民族伟大复兴的信心是中国共产党初心使命的现实表达。要锚定教育强国建设的奋斗目标，风浪在前不惧怕，矛盾面前不回避，挑战当前不退缩，汇集起攻坚克难的强大精神力量。今天，在党的领导下，在全国各族人民的团结奋斗中，中华民族伟大复兴展现出光明前景。我们要以前所未有的历史紧迫感、使命感和责任感一体推进教育发展、科技创新、人才培养，担负起为中国式现代化强基赋能的时代重任。要培养大批德才兼备的高素质人才。锚定国家战略需求深化人才评价模式、人才培养模式改革，统筹推进教育科技人才体制机制一体改革，加强拔尖人才自主培养，爱才育才引才用才，把各方面人才集聚到党和人民的事业中来，坚定信心，扎根中国大地办教育，立足中国实际解答教育强国建设的根本性问题。

We must unswervingly follow the path of socialist educational development with Chinese characteristics, forge the foundation of faith, belief, and confidence, cast the soul of the leading power of ideological and political education for a strong educational country, establish its foundation, uphold its correctness, achieve strong ideological, political, and value leadership for young students, gather the mighty force for building a strong educational country, and, under the Party’s overall leadership, steadily advance toward the strategic goal of building a strong educational country.

建成教育强国是近代以来中华民族梦寐以求的美好愿望，我们要坚定不移走中国特色社会主义教育发展道路，铸牢信仰信念信心根基，铸教育强国思政引领力之魂，立教育强国思政引领力之基，守教育强国思政引领力之正，实现对青少年学生强有力的思想引领、政治引领和价值引领，汇聚起建设教育强国的磅礴力量，在党的全面领导下，不断朝着建成教育强国的战略目标扎实迈进。
