Making the "Great Ideological and Political Course" a Success Through Social Practice

To thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important directives on the construction of ideological and political courses in schools and his series of important expositions on the growth and success of youth, to promote the in-depth implementation of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC on campus, and to practically advance the sustained development of the school’s “Five Joys in Education” project [1]1 The “Five Joys in Education” (五乐育人) project refers to an educational initiative at Yulin University that promotes student development through five aspects: joy in learning, joy in practice, joy in innovation, joy in service, and joy in life., the Suide Normal College of Yulin University (hereinafter “the College”) began a ten-day summer “Three Visits to the Countryside” [2]2 “Three Visits to the Countryside” (三下乡) is a long-standing Chinese social practice program in which college students go to rural areas to disseminate culture, science and technology, and health knowledge. social practice activity for college students on July 21, 2024, at the Chang’erwa Love Station in Changjiagou Village, Suide, Shaanxi. Centered on the theme “Youth bravely shoulders responsibility for Chinese-path modernization,” the volunteers actively engaged in social practice, assisted in the development of rural education, took part in the “great ideological and political course” that integrates with reality, and in the social classroom “received education, grew in ability, and made contributions,” displaying the fine image of “striving youth” in the New Era.

为深入贯彻落实习近平总书记关于学校思政课建设重要指示精神和关于青年成长成才的系列重要论述，推动党的二十大精神在学校落地生根，以实际行动助推学校“五乐育人”工程持续发展，榆林学院绥德师范学院（以下简称“学院”）2024年7月21日开始在陕西绥德常家沟村常二娃爱心驿站开展为期十天的大学生暑期“三下乡”社会实践活动。围绕主题“青春为中国式现代化挺膺担当”，志愿者们积极投身社会实践，助力乡村教育发展，上好与现实相结合的“大思政课”，在社会课堂中“受教育、长才干、作贡献”，展现新时代“奋斗青年”的良好风貌。

Cultivating the fields with culture and writing, education moistens the heart. In the College’s “Three Visits to the Countryside” social practice activity, the volunteers went deep into the countryside, bringing lively and interesting lessons to the rural children with full enthusiasm and a professional attitude, embarking on an unforgettable teaching journey.

文耕播乡野，教育润心田。学院“三下乡”社会实践活动中，志愿者们深入乡村，以饱满的热情和专业的态度，为乡村的孩子们带来一节节生动有趣的课程，开启了一段难忘的教学之旅。

Carrying a love for education and concern for rural children, the volunteers devoted themselves wholeheartedly to daily teaching work. First, drawing on their own normal-school professional backgrounds, they carefully designed each lesson, striving to simplify complex knowledge and concretize abstract concepts, enabling the children to easily and happily master new knowledge. To stimulate the children’s interest in learning and improve teaching effectiveness, the volunteers adopted diverse teaching methods and approaches. Through case-based teaching, discussion methods, problem-based teaching, practical activities, and the like, they encouraged the children to actively participate in classroom activities, cultivating their thinking and innovation abilities. At the same time, the volunteers skillfully used multimedia teaching tools, integrating elements such as images, sound, and animation into the classroom, making it more vivid and engaging. The volunteers deeply understood that each child is a unique individual with different learning styles, interests, and developmental needs. Therefore, during the teaching process, they learned about the children’s learning conditions and psychological states through observation and communication, and developed personalized teaching plans tailored to each child’s characteristics. This approach of teaching students according to their aptitude not only improved teaching outcomes but also stimulated the children’s interest in learning. Thus, the volunteers established deep teacher-student bonds with the children. The volunteers interacted with the children as friends, cared about their studies and lives, and gave them ample affection and encouragement. In the classroom, the volunteers were the children’s guides; after class, they were their confidants. This positive teacher-student relationship not only created an uplifting classroom atmosphere but also promoted the children’s healthy growth and all-round development. Finally, after a period of effort and practice, the volunteers’ daily classroom activities achieved notable results. The children showed significant improvement in knowledge acquisition, thinking ability, and other areas. At the same time, the volunteers gained valuable teaching experience. They came to more deeply recognize the importance and significance of education, and their determination and conviction to devote themselves to the educational cause were further strengthened.

志愿者们带着对教育的热爱和对乡村孩子的关怀，全身心投入日常教学工作中。首先，他们结合自身的师范专业背景，精心设计每一堂课，力求将复杂的知识简单化、抽象的概念具体化，使孩子们轻松愉快地掌握新知识。为了激发孩子们的学习兴趣，提高教学效果，志愿者们采用了多样化的教学方法和手段。他们通过案例教学法、讨论法、问题教学法、实践活动法等，鼓励孩子们积极参与课堂活动，培养孩子们的思维能力和创新能力。同时，志愿者们还巧妙运用多媒体教学手段，将图像、声音、动画等元素融入课堂，使课堂更加生动有趣。志愿者们深知每个孩子都是独一无二的个体，各自有着不同的学习风格、兴趣爱好和成长需求。因此，在教学过程中，志愿者们通过观察、交流等方式了解孩子们的学习情况和心理状态，针对不同孩子的特点制定个性化的教学方案。这种因材施教的教学方式，不仅提升了教学效果，也激发了孩子们的学习兴趣。由此，志愿者们与孩子们建立了深厚的师生情谊。志愿者们以朋友的身份与孩子们相处，关心他们的学习和生活，给予他们充分的关爱和鼓励。在课堂上，志愿者们是孩子们的引路人；在课后，他们则是孩子们的知心朋友。这种良好的师生关系不仅营造了积极向上的课堂氛围，也促进了孩子们的健康成长和全面发展。最后，经过一段时间的努力和实践，志愿者们的日常上课活动取得了显著成果。孩子们在知识掌握、思维能力等方面都有了明显的提升。同时，志愿者们也收获了宝贵的教学经验。他们更加深刻地认识到教育的重要性和意义所在，也更加坚定了投身教育事业的决心和信念。

Water with care, and wait quietly for the flowers to bloom. Each lesson the volunteers taught was filled with anticipation and love. During the days of the teaching-support life, the volunteers moved forward hand in hand, bringing more knowledge to the rural students and sowing seeds of hope in their hearts. Courses with distinctive features, education full of vitality. The College’s “Three Visits to the Countryside” social practice activity included a series of ingeniously designed special courses, mainly paper-cutting, dance, calligraphy, origami, music, physical education, and writing. These special courses aimed to bring more diverse and interesting learning experiences to the rural children, while also inheriting and promoting fine traditional Chinese culture.

课程有特色，教育显活力。学院“三下乡”社会实践活动包括一系列独具匠心的特色课程，主要有剪纸、舞蹈、书法、折纸、音乐、体育、写作等。这些特色课程旨在为乡村的孩子们带来更加多元化、趣味化的学习体验，同时传承与弘扬中华优秀传统文化。

In the special paper-cutting class, the volunteers taught the children basic paper-cutting techniques, guiding them to use their imagination to create distinctive paper-cut works. For example, the volunteers introduced the children to the classic image in intangible cultural heritage paper-cutting—the “grasping-chignon doll” (抓髻娃娃) [3]3 The “grasping-chignon doll” (抓髻娃娃) is a traditional paper-cutting motif from northern Shaanxi, often used as a fertility symbol or protective charm in folk customs.—explaining in detail its symbolic meaning, stylistic features, and paper-cutting techniques, giving the children a deeper understanding of this traditional art. The children picked up scissors and immersed themselves in creating grasping-chignon dolls, skillfully presenting lively and adorable images of these dolls on red paper. The special paper-cutting class not only exercised the children’s hands-on ability and creativity but also allowed them to feel the charm and value of intangible cultural heritage through the influence of traditional culture.

特色剪纸课上，志愿者们教授孩子们基础的剪纸技巧，引导他们发挥想象力，创作出各具特色的剪纸作品。例如，志愿者们为孩子们介绍了非遗剪纸中的经典形象——抓髻娃娃，详细讲解了抓髻娃娃的寓意、造型特点以及剪纸技巧，让孩子们对这项传统艺术有了更深刻的认识。孩子们拿起剪刀，投入抓髻娃娃的剪纸创作中，将一个个活泼可爱的抓髻娃娃形象巧妙地展现在红纸上。特色剪纸课不仅锻炼了孩子们的动手能力和创造力，也让他们在传统文化的熏陶中感受到非遗的魅力与价值。

The special dance class brought endless joy to the children. To the rhythm of the music, the children released their natural instincts and displayed youthful vitality. Considering the children’s age characteristics and physical conditions, the volunteers carefully choreographed the dance movements. Through dance, the children learned teamwork, communication, and coordination, experiencing the pleasure and sense of achievement that art brings. The special dance class provided a platform for the children to express themselves and let their dreams fly, and it nourished their hearts through edutainment, helping them grow strong.

The special calligraphy class, as an important carrier of traditional culture, attracted the attention of many children with its unique charm. The volunteers patiently taught the basic knowledge and techniques of calligraphy. From the starting and turning of strokes to the structure and layout of characters, under the volunteers’ careful guidance, the children gradually mastered the essence of calligraphy. Each stroke was both a pursuit of the beauty of Chinese characters and an inheritance of fine traditional Chinese culture. The special calligraphy class not only improved the children’s writing ability but also planted in their hearts the seeds of love and respect for traditional culture.

特色书法课作为传统文化的重要载体，以独特的魅力吸引了众多孩子的目光。志愿者耐心传授书法的基本知识与技巧。从笔画的起承转合到字体的结构布局，孩子们在志愿者的悉心指导下，逐渐掌握了书法的精髓。一笔一画间，既是对汉字美的追求，也是对中华优秀传统文化的传承。特色书法课不仅提升了孩子们的书写能力，也在他们心中种下了热爱与尊重传统文化的种子。

Psychological team-building activities can both promote the children’s physical and mental health development and enhance their psychological quality, and through forms such as teamwork, communication, and interaction, cultivate the children’s social skills, sense of responsibility, and collective honor.

与健康同行，为青春护航。心理团建活动既能够促进孩子们身心健康发展，提升他们的心理素质，又能通过团队合作、沟通互动等形式，培养孩子们的社交能力、责任感和集体荣誉感。

The College’s “Three Visits to the Countryside” social practice team cooperated with the Summer Social Practice Group of the Mental Health Education Center of Yulin University to jointly organize a unique psychological team-building activity. At the beginning of the activity, the volunteers gained an in-depth understanding of the children’s psychological state through a mental health questionnaire survey. At the same time, they organized a series of fun psychological mini-games, such as relay ball-passing and puzzle challenges, allowing the children to exercise their mental agility and teamwork skills in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, while also strengthening their friendships.

The College’s “Three Visits to the Countryside” social practice team and the “Heart Education Youth” practice team from the School of Psychology of Shaanxi Normal University jointly organized a psychological team-building activity. The “one-minute clapping game” introduced by the volunteers, with its unique creativity and challenge, quickly captured the children’s attention. This simple but meaningful game not only stimulated the children’s creativity, teaching them to maximize their potential within a limited time, but also exercised their perception and management of time, injecting new vitality into the children’s healthy psychological development.

These two psychological team-building activities, diverse in form and rich in content, effectively improved the children’s mental health level, enhancing their team awareness, innovative thinking, and time management skills through edutainment.

The teachers and students of the college’s practice team bravely shoulder the responsibilities of the era, combining theory with practice, contributing youthful strength on this hot land of northern Shaanxi, earnestly teaching the “walking ideological-political course” well, assisting rural education, and striving to grow in practice into “good young people of the New Era who have ideals, dare to take responsibility, can endure hardship, and are willing to struggle,” [4]4 “Good young people of the New Era who have ideals, dare to take responsibility, can endure hardship, and are willing to struggle” (有理想、敢担当、能吃苦、肯奋斗) is a standard formulation from Xi Jinping’s speeches, used to describe the expected qualities of youth under the guidance of the Party. letting youth bloom like a brilliant flower wherever the motherland and the people need it most. The colorful social practice activities not only give students of Yulin University a further understanding of the current state of rural education in our country, but also make them recognize the heavy responsibility they bear as future educators.
