Ideological and Political Course Teachers Must Be Practitioners of the Spirit of the Educator

“A teacher of classics is easy to find, but a teacher of humanity is hard to come by.” [1]1 A classical Chinese saying from the *Book of the Later Han* (《后汉书》), emphasizing that a teacher who imparts moral character and humanity is rarer and more valuable than one who merely transmits book knowledge. General Secretary Xi Jinping has profoundly expounded the spirit of the educator from six aspects: ideals and convictions, moral sentiment, educational wisdom, attitude of diligent cultivation, benevolent heart, and pursuit of promoting the Way. This is highly compatible with the “six requirements” he set for the competence of ideological and political course teachers, namely, “strong political awareness, deep feelings, innovative thinking, broad vision, strict self-discipline, and upright personality.” The ideological and political course is a key course for fostering virtue and nurturing people, and the key to running it well lies in the teachers. To promote the connotative development of ideological and political course construction in the New Era, the building of the teacher contingent should be taken as a foundational project. We should guide the vast number of ideological and political course teachers to consciously transform the spirit of the educator into the concrete practice of educating people for the Party and cultivating talent for the country, thereby providing strong support for running the ideological and political course well.

“经师易求，人师难得。”习近平总书记从理想信念、道德情操、育人智慧、躬耕态度、仁爱之心、弘道追求六个方面深刻阐述了教育家精神，这与他对思政课教师素养提出的“六个要”重要指示，即“政治要强、情怀要深、思维要新、视野要广、自律要严、人格要正”具有高度契合性。思政课是立德树人的关键课程，办好思政课的关键在教师。新时代推动思政课建设内涵式发展，应当把教师队伍建设作为基础工程，引导广“大思政课”教师自觉将教育家精神转化为为党育人、为国育才的具体实践，为办好思政课提供坚强支撑。

增强思政课教师弘扬教育家精神的思想和行动自觉

The spirit of the educator provides value guidance for ideological and political course teachers in educating and cultivating talent. In practice, multiple measures should be taken to build platforms and create conditions for cultivating a high-quality, professionalized contingent of ideological and political course teachers, and concrete actions should be used to effectively enhance the ideological and action consciousness of ideological and political course teachers in promoting the spirit of the educator.

教育家精神为思政课教师育人育才提供了价值指引。实践中，应多措并举为培养高素质专业化思政课教师队伍搭建平台、创造条件，以实际举措切实增强思政课教师弘扬教育家精神的思想和行动自觉。

Strengthen educational immersion. Make the cultivation of the spirit of the educator a compulsory course for ideological and political course teachers and an important task in education and training, promoting the normalization, institutionalization, and long-term integration of the spirit of the educator into the cultivation and training of ideological and political course teachers. Coordinate and plan various types of cultivation and training, such as training for key ideological and political course teachers, training for newly recruited teachers, training on the use of newly revised textbooks, and practical research. Relying on teaching research bases, theoretical research bases, and practical research bases for ideological and political course teachers, actively develop teaching resources on the spirit of the educator, carry out special training on the spirit of the educator. Through methods such as centralized training combined with regular education, face-to-face training combined with online training, and theoretical learning combined with practical exercises, enable ideological and political course teachers to truly understand and grasp the great significance, spiritual essence, and practical requirements of the spirit of the educator. This will make their ideals and convictions more steadfast, their theoretical foundation in Marxism more solid, and their overall level of teaching and educating people improved, so that they effectively practice the spirit of the educator, engaging in teaching with enthusiasm, dedication, long-term commitment, and lifelong devotion.

强化教育浸润。把教育家精神培养作为思政课教师的必修课和教育培训的重要任务，推动教育家精神常态化、制度化、长效化融入思政课教师培养培训。统筹规划思政课骨干教师培训、新进教师培训、新修订教材使用培训、实践研修等培养培训类型，依托思政课教师教学研修基地、理论研修基地和实践研修基地等，积极开发教育家精神教学资源，开展教育家精神专题培训，通过集中培训与经常性教育、面对面培训与网络培训、理论学习与实践锻炼等多种方式，让思政课教师真正理解和把握教育家精神的重大意义、精神实质与实践要求，使他们理想信念更为坚定、马克思主义理论功底更为扎实、教书育人水平整体提升，切实做到自觉践行教育家精神，热心从教、精心从教、长期从教、终身从教。

Strengthen evaluation empowerment. Make good use of the baton of educational evaluation, adhere to taking the effectiveness of fostering virtue and nurturing people as the fundamental standard, and take teacher ethics and conduct as the primary standard. Closely integrate with the reality of ideological and political courses, organically incorporate the spirit of the educator into the evaluation of ideological and political course teachers, and include it in qualification access, recruitment and introduction, professional title evaluation and appointment, supervisor selection, evaluation and awards, project applications, etc., for ideological and political course teachers. Build a comprehensive evaluation system for ideological and political course teachers that is conducive to highlighting the orientation of teaching and educating people, comprehensive, systematic, scientifically standardized, and effectively operational. In scientific research evaluation, overcome the stubborn maladies of only focusing on scores, enrollment rates, diplomas, papers, and titles, and focus on evaluating the academic contributions, social contributions, and support for ideological and political course teaching of ideological and political course teachers. In teaching evaluation, give preference to ideological and political course teachers who are on the front line of teaching and have outstanding educational and teaching results, increase the proportion of evaluation for ideological and political course teaching and teaching research, include teaching reference materials, survey reports, and summaries of teaching and educating experience in teaching and teaching research results, guiding and encouraging ideological and political course teachers to invest more time and energy in researching teaching content, innovating teaching methods, and improving teaching effectiveness.

强化评价赋能。用好教育评价这一指挥棒，坚持把立德树人成效作为根本标准，把师德师风作为第一标准，紧密结合思政课实际，将教育家精神有机融入思政课教师评价，纳入思政课教师资格准入、招聘引进、职称评聘、导师遴选、评优奖励、项目申报等，构建有利于突出教书育人导向，全面系统、科学规范、运行有效的思政课教师综合评价体系。在科研评价上，克服唯分数、唯升学、唯文凭、唯论文、唯帽子的顽瘴痼疾，重点评价思政课教师的学术贡献、社会贡献以及支撑思政课教学情况；在教学评价上，向教学一线和教育教学效果突出的思政课教师倾斜，提高思政课教学和教学研究评价占比，把教学参考资料、调查报告、教书育人经验总结等纳入教学和教学研究成果，引导和鼓励思政课教师把更多时间和精力投入研究教学内容、创新教学方法、提高教学实效中。

Strengthen resource support. Build a good disciplinary platform, strengthen the construction of the discipline of Marxist theory, promote the alignment of the discipline of Marxist theory with other disciplines in philosophy and social sciences, and consolidate the disciplinary foundation for ideological and political course teachers to educate and cultivate talent through the priority development, advantageous development, and high-quality development of the discipline of Marxist theory. Strengthen policy support, support ideological and political course teachers in consciously practicing the spirit of the educator, actively participating in practical investigations, social research, and temporary assignments, and provide key support to ideological and political course teachers in various talent plans, team building, scientific research projects, evaluation and commendation, position evaluation and appointment, and overseas visits. Create a good atmosphere, select and commend advanced models of ideological and political course teachers practicing the spirit of the educator, comprehensively use forms such as publicity reports, story coverage, special programs, literary and artistic works, and public service advertisements to widely publicize their advanced deeds and outstanding contributions, spread the thoughts of educators, display the style of educators, fully demonstrate the contemporary value and eternal charm of the spirit of the educator, and make the spirit of the educator integrate and intermingle with the work, study, and real life of ideological and political course teachers.

强化资源支撑。建好学科平台，加强马克思主义理论学科建设，推进马克思主义理论学科与其他哲学社会科学学科同向同行，以马克思主义理论学科的优先发展、优势发展、优质发展夯实思政课教师育人育才的学科基础。加强政策倾斜，支持思政课教师自觉践行教育家精神，积极参与实践考察、社会调研、挂职锻炼等，在各类人才计划、团队建设、科研项目、评优表彰、职务评聘、出国访学等方面给予思政课教师重点支持；营造良好氛围，选树、表彰思政课教师践行教育家精神的先进典型，综合运用宣讲报告、事迹报道、专题节目、文艺作品、公益广告等形式，广泛宣传他们的先进事迹与突出贡献，传播教育家思想、展现教育家风貌，充分彰显教育家精神的时代价值和永恒魅力，使教育家精神与思政课教师的工作、学习及现实生活相融相通。

On the new journey of the New Era, the construction of the contingent of ideological and political course teachers should be based on the mission of the times: spreading knowledge, spreading thought, spreading truth; shaping souls, shaping life, shaping new people. We must always adhere to cultivating, nurturing, and practicing the spirit of the educator, establishing oneself with virtue, learning with virtue, and teaching with virtue, becoming firm believers and conscious practitioners of the spirit of the educator.

新时代新征程，思政课教师队伍建设应立足于传播知识、传播思想、传播真理，塑造灵魂、塑造生命、塑造新人的时代使命，始终坚持培育涵养践行教育家精神，以德立身、以德立学、以德施教，成为教育家精神的坚定信仰者和自觉践行者。

In education and teaching, ideological and political course teachers should focus on enhancing the ideological nature, theoretical nature, affinity, and pertinence of ideological and political courses. By innovating teaching ideas, teaching models, and teaching methods, construct a teaching system that highlights key points and is close to reality, forming their own teaching characteristics and styles. For example, adopt heuristic, participatory, interactive, case-based, and research-based teaching methods, use language that students enjoy, vivid and lively examples, and novel and lively forms to enliven the ideological and political classroom and inspire students to think. Organize students to carry out various forms of classroom practice, campus practice, and social practice, guide and encourage students to expand classroom teaching results through self-learning and self-education, and enhance practical abilities and cultivate a sense of family and country in their personal participation at the grassroots level. Actively use new technologies and means such as big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence in teaching, form online and offline teaching interactions, and let scientific theory, correct public opinion, and excellent culture fill the cyberspace.

在教育教学中，思政课教师应着眼于增强思政课的思想性、理论性和亲和力、针对性，通过创新教学思想、教学模式、教学方法，构建重点突出、贴近实际的教学体系，形成自己的教学特色与风格。例如，采用启发式、参与式、互动式、案例式、研究式等教学方法，运用学生喜闻乐见的语言、生动鲜活的事例、新颖活泼的形式，活跃思政课堂、启发学生思考；组织学生开展形式多样的课堂实践、校园实践与社会实践，引导和鼓励学生通过自我学习、自我教育拓展课堂教学成果，在基层一线的亲身参与中增强实践能力、树立家国情怀；积极在教学中使用大数据、云计算、人工智能等新技术、新手段，形成网上网下教学互动，让科学理论、正确舆论、优秀文化充盈网络空间。

In scientific research, ideological and political course teachers should consciously establish the correct political direction, value orientation, and academic orientation, uphold the ideal pursuit of serving the country with utmost sincerity, the scientific spirit of daring to be the first, the enterprising consciousness of innovation and pioneering, and the rigorous and realistic scientific research style. Stand at the forefront of the times, the forefront of the discipline, and the front line of teaching, supporting high-quality ideological and political course teaching with high-quality scientific research. On the one hand, strengthen academic research. Deeply study the major theoretical and practical issues encountered in the great practice of building a strong country and rejuvenating the nation, adapt to the development trends of basic disciplines, emerging disciplines, and interdisciplinary disciplines, carry out interdisciplinary learning and research, and promptly transform the innovative results of academic research into classroom teaching content. On the other hand, strengthen teaching research. Take the curriculum construction, textbook construction, teaching reform, team building, discipline construction, and important theoretical and practical issues in teaching of ideological and political courses as important topics, deeply carry out teaching research, and improve teaching quality.

在科学研究中，思政课教师应自觉树立正确的政治方向、价值取向、学术导向，秉持至诚报国的理想追求、敢为人先的科学精神、开拓创新的进取意识和严谨求实的科研作风，站在时代前沿、学科前沿、教学一线，用高质量科研支撑高质量思政课教学。一方面，加强学术研究。深入研究强国建设、民族复兴伟大实践中遇到的重大理论和实践问题，适应基础学科、新兴学科、交叉学科发展趋势，开展跨学科学习与研究，及时将学术研究的创新成果转化为课堂教学内容。另一方面，加强教学研究。将思政课的课程建设、教材建设、教学改革、队伍建设、学科建设以及教学中的重要理论和实践问题作为重要选题，深入开展教学研究，提升教学质量。

In social service, ideological and political course teachers should consciously practice the educational wisdom of inspiring wisdom and moistening the heart, and teaching students according to their aptitude. Integrate the spirit of the educator into all aspects of ideological and moral education, cultural knowledge education, and social practice education. Actively participate in the work of universities such as curriculum-based ideological and political education, scientific research education, practical education, cultural education, online education, psychological education, management education, service education, financial aid education, and organizational education, promote the joint force of the main channel and the main front in educating people, and continuously improve students’ ideological level, political awareness, moral quality, and cultural literacy. Practice the ideal and belief of having a big self in the heart and serving the country with utmost sincerity. In the great practice of Chinese-path modernization, pay attention to the times and society, supported by profound theory, multidisciplinary perspectives, and advanced methods, carry out forward-looking, targeted, and reserve policy research on overall, strategic, and key, hot, and difficult issues. Actively carry out theoretical publicity, spread mainstream values and guide social public opinion with thorough theoretical analysis and complete ideological theory, so that the Party’s innovative theories fly into the homes of ordinary people.

在社会服务中，思政课教师应自觉践行启智润心、因材施教的育人智慧，把教育家精神融入思想道德教育、文化知识教育、社会实践教育各环节，积极参与高校的课程思政育人、科研育人、实践育人、文化育人、网络育人、心理育人、管理育人、服务育人、资助育人、组织育人等工作，推动主渠道与主阵地的合力育人，不断提高学生思想水平、政治觉悟、道德品质、文化素养。践行心有大我、至诚报国的理想信念，在中国式现代化伟大实践中关注时代、关注社会，以厚重的理论、多学科的视角和先进的方法为支撑，围绕全局、战略问题和重点热点难点问题，开展前瞻性、针对性、储备性政策研究。积极开展理论宣讲，以透彻的学理分析、彻底的思想理论，传播主流价值、引导社会舆论，让党的创新理论飞入寻常百姓家。
